Obituary of Dianne Knudson

KNUDSON, Dianne Mae

November 10, 1940 - Winnipeg, Manitoba

November 27, 2021 - Calgary, Alberta

Dianne Knudson our beloved sister, auntie and friend passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2021, leaving a hole in our family.

Di was the youngest sibling of John, Bea, and George Knudson. She was also the devoted side kick, “Danny” to her Mother Elsie’s parents who shared their childhood home in Winnipeg Manitoba. She learned to drive early with her Grandpa Brady, and she has driven countless miles since then between her homes in Toronto, Winnipeg, and Calgary, enjoying this country from behind the wheel of her car. Forty years ago, Di drove from Toronto to a new job in Calgary where she moved in with her sister Bea. Theirs was a great friendship and they became intrepid travellers close to home. There are few southern Alberta highways, back roads, and cafés along the way that they haven’t explored with Di as the driver. In all the places Di called home she became a central part in the lives of her nieces and nephews who lived there. From Toronto to Vancouver, she is known as Auntie Di to three generations of children and as the most caring, fun-loving auntie you could wish for.

You leave us with so many unique and cherished memories Di, and a great respect for your love of family. You will be missed.

A private family gathering will be held to celebrate her life. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.

In living memory of Dianne Knudson, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes, Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, Ab t2x 3j3, Telephone: 403-256-9575.
