Obituary of Odette Vasseur

June 6, 1949 – Santiago, Chile
November 30, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our wife, mother, grandmother, friend, Odette Vasseur, on Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at the age of 72 years.

Odette was born in Santiago, Chile on June 6, 1949. She immigrated to Winnipeg, MB in 1975. Calgary is where she eventually made a home and made many friends within her Chilean community. This is where she met the love of her life Raymond and the pair married on May 17, 2008. Raymond was by her side every day until she said goodbye.

Odette is survived by her loving husband Raymond Vasseur, sons, Winston Ortega and Darwin Duran (Adrianna); seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, one great-greatgrandchild, three bothers, three sisters, stepchildren, Bonnie, Rodney Vasseur (Jennifer), Raeline Pearson (Travis), and Rebecca Wain (Scott), and five step-grandchildren. 

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Chapel of The Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB), on Monday, December 6, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.  Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Those attending will be asked to provide valid government identification (with name and date of birth) AND confirm one of the following: (A)Provincial vaccine record with QR code (paper or digital); OR (B)negative COVID test (within 72 hours); or (C)valid medical exemption (signed letter); OR (D)under 12 years of age. Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Mrs. Vasseur’s service streamed live (see below) on the day of the service. For those who are unable to view live, a recording of the service will be posted. Condolences, memories and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
