Condolences
My deepest sympathies to all of you. Joan was like a second mom to me, She was always welcoming and put up with all the mischief and mess Pam and I would make. I have thought of Joan often through the years, especially when teaching my kids to drive! When Joan was teaching Pam to drive (I was in the backseat of course) I would laugh every time Pam would scare her and she in turn would hold tight all the while screaming “BRAKE”! So as I taught my kids and I was screaming “BRAKE” I would think of her, I would get a chuckle then tell the kids the story.
You were blessed to have a strong, resilient, hardworking mom , sister, friend like Joan, may you all find peace and comfort knowing she had a wonderful life with all of you in it.
Love, Janet (Schleppe) Murry
I am a good friend of Sheila’s since our teenage years. I am so sorry Sheila and family for the loss of your mother Joan. My thoughts and prayers are with you all!! My deepest sympathy. Darrell Gelinas
My name is Laura Keenan and I was one of her daughter Sheila's best friends when we were young so I spent a good deal of time in the presence of Joan. She was always trying to guide me in the right direction (with my boyfriends!) and always very clever and witty. I had many a good laugh with Sheila and Joan. In her Irish brogue she would always say, When are you going to find a good man Laura! It was always all in good fun. She will really be missed - she was a great lady and always brought a smile and some giggles to my day.
To my dearest Sister and my Soul buddy and best friend
I'm lost
Life feels lost without you
My phone has gone silent
My soul is sad
Forever your brother Paddy
Until we meet again I put trust in god to hold you in his hands
RIP
To my beautiful Aunt
You have passed into another stage of life
Our house is so quite. Too quite
I miss your voice
It is how I feel with mum been gone, you don't know what you have until it's gone
Joan it's just words on a paper
You held me up when dad and mum where not good
You called me every night during those times
Those calls held me together
I miss you so much
My heart is hurting
There will never be a Joan again
I will love you forever
Until we meet again may God hold you in his arms
Love u forever
Fran Lewis née Durkin
To my dearest aunt Joan, you taught me to be unafraid of living boldly
With me forever
Anthony Durkin
May the Irish hills caress you
May her lakes and rivers bless you
May the luck of the Irish enfold you
May the blessings of
Saint Patrick behold you
James Durkin

My sincerest condolences on the passing of Joan.
Joan was deeply loved by her Australian family, and was a monumental source of strength for both my mother (Fran) and my grandfather (Paddy) during their most challenging times. I will forever be greatful that my family had a loving and supportive rock in Joan.
In Australia, it became tradition that Christmas had three guarantees - gifting, great food, and an everlasting call from Joan. Pop was always so proud to hear from his sister that his beaming smile would carry right through the day.
Whilst you've now left our world, your memory lives on as a continuous beacon of love, support and strength in our family.
With love, Matt
