Obituary of Orest Kitzul
January 18, 1936
West Bend, Saskatchewan
December 1, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta
Orest Kitzul, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at the age of 85 years. Orest was born in West Bend, SK on January 18, 1936, to parents George and Mary Kitzul. He graduated from Foam Lake High School in 1954, moved to Alberta shortly after and went to work as a surveyor. Later, he drove a transport truck with his brother Alvin. Orest had an entrepreneurial spirit and owned several businesses, including Lindal Cedar Homes and a small oil and gas company. Orest was a member of many antique car clubs in the Calgary area. He joined the Alberta Pioneer Auto Club in 1967, and belonged to the Model-T Club, Horseless Carriage Club and Plymouth Club. He owned many antique cars over the years, including the brass era, the early 30’s classic era, and the 1950’s golden age. Orest was also a member of the Calgary Shriners. Always a social person, Orest enjoyed participating in the classic and antique car rallies with his wife Carole. He was a Stampeder fan and a long-time season ticket holder who enjoyed tailgating with his family and friends. Orest will be remembered for his outgoing personality and his sense of humour. Orest is survived by his children Grant (Kamila) and April; and his grandchildren, Jacob, Veronika and Nicholas Kitzul. Orest was predeceased by his beloved wife Carole Kitzul; his parents, George and Mary Kitzul; his three brothers, Joseph, Alvin and Eugene Kitzul; and his sister Julia Woods.
