Condolences
Dear auntie Elfriede, dear Heidi, dear Andrea and all others i am not knowing.
By saerching the phone nuber for auntie Elfriede & uncle Bertl, i stumbled over this announce.
My Name is Martin Nussbaum, from Switzerland, near Zurich.
In deep sadness, I only found out about the death of Uncle Bertl on December 04, 2021 in mid-February 22.
We first met in the summer of 1974 when my mom and I (then 11 years old) visited you on Beil Avenue in Calgary for the summer vacation.
It was my most meaningful summer vacation of my entire life.
Uncle Bertl showed us Canada, the Rock Mountains and his vacation home on Sylvan Lake.
Although my mom was just a friend from school, we were immediately integrated into the family.
Uncle Bertl was a very good father and husband.
He had a great sense of humor and always knew a good joke in the right place.
After the summer holidays of 1974, we met at our place, near Zurich, in 1976, 1979, 1985 and finally in Hof in 2006.
I would like to thank you for all these wonderful hours that I was able to spend with Uncle Bertl and his family and friends.
I will keep fond memories of his great hospitality, sense of family and last but not least his great sense of humor for the rest of my life.
Martin Nussbaum, son of Helen Nussbaum, native Windhager

Condolences to the Hammerling Family.
Albert was my uncle and the brother in-law of my mother. We have many fun memories of Albert. What will always stand out for me and my wife is Alberts love for telling stories about himself, his friends and family, and his many endeavors in the new world that he immigrated to in Canada. His love for the Canadian Rocky Mountains was clear in everything he did and enjoyed. I know it reminded him of his birth country Austria. My mother remembers Albert as a young boy when he came to Hof and went to school with her older brother. They were both meant to have gone to Canada, but my mother's brother 'chicken out' and Albert went with another set of Austrians. They clearly all did well and they preserved the Austrian in them with all their traditions, food and customs. Albert was true to himself and enjoyed life. He had a great life and we should all remember the good times we had with Albert. Our condolences to Alfrida - we know you are strong and will carry one in this difficult time.

Our deepest condolences on the passing of Albert. He was such a positive and hard working person. We fondly remember our time as neighbours at Sylvan Lake and especially the Wiener Schnitzel dinners! Take good care all of you.
So sincerely sorry for your loss. Did not have the pleasure of meeting Albert but no doubt he will be dearly missed if half the stories we heard were true. Our kindest regards, Jane & Steve Swan
