Obituary of Angus Hugh MacPherson

April 17, 1955 – Antigonish, Nova Scotia
December 5, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Angus MacPherson, on Sunday, December 5, 2021 at the age of 66 years after a brief illness.

Angus was born in Antigonish, Nova Scotia.  He was the son of the late Harold and Gertrude (nee MacDonald) MacPherson of Antigonish, Nova Scotia.

Angus headed west in the late 1970s and met the love of his life, Anne, in 1982 at a Maritime Reunion Association weekend bash.  He had a great sense of humour, loved to tell a story and made everyone feel like a friend.  

Angus was an employee with the City of Calgary Recreation Department for over fifteen years.  He made many friends through work and felt most at home at the rink or with a fishing rod in his hands.  

He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Anne; and their children, Emily (George), Mary and Owen; his daughter, Melissa, and her children, Connor and Riley; two sisters, Helen Ann McCarthy of Florida, and Brenda of Calgary; two brothers, Terry (Judi) and Donnie (Sheila) of Antigonish.  He is also survived by his nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.  He is predeceased by his infant son Colin, and his brother, Jimmy.

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Crowfoot, 82 Crowfoot Circle NW, Calgary, AB), on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Those attending will be asked to provide valid government identification (with name and date of birth) AND confirm one of the following: (A)Provincial vaccine record with QR code (paper or digital); OR (B)negative COVID test (within 72 hours); or (C)valid medical exemption (signed letter); OR (D)under 12 years of age.  

Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Mr. MacPherson’s service streamed live (see below) on the day of the service. For those who are unable to view live, a recording of the service will be posted.
