Condolences
It was a joy to have met Jesse. Although I do not know him very well, the last few weeks of spending time with him have encouraged me greatly. Each visit was precious, as good as redeeming time to live purposeful lives. It gave us the moment in time to talk about many things, including the many foolish things we have done, enough to laugh at our own silliness. However, the most delightful conversation we have had was establishing one’s relationship with Jesus.
Interestingly, Jesse had asked me many interesting questions, like a two-year-old child’s curiosity. His why questions were intriguing, and the dialogue was as deep as an ocean. Eventually, being challenged by Jesus’ answers, he accepted and believed in Jesus. Jesse understood that Jesus had paid with his life on the cross for him to begin a relationship with his Creator forever. Not long after, he was baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, which brought tears of jubilation to many participants.
Jesse’s physical presence is an absence in this world. Those who knew and were closest to him felt not his presence anymore―eyes will not see him; ears cannot hear, and hands cannot touch him. Sorrow and sadness are in our souls, but only for a short time. The late evangelist, Billy Graham, once said, “Someday you will read or hear that Billy Graham is dead. Don’t you believe a word of it. I shall be more alive than I am now. I will just have changed my address. I will have gone into the presence of God.” Certainly, Jesse has just moved and received a new address.
See you, bro!
Rest in peace brother Jesse.
