Obituary of Timoteo Nolasco Solar

SOLAR, Timoteo Nolasco

November 12, 1936 - San Bernardo, Chile

December 7, 2021 - Calgary, Alberta

Timoteo Solar, beloved husband of Norma Solar (Flores) of Calgary, AB, passed away on December 7, 2021, at the age of 85 years.

Timoteo Nolasco Solar Godoy was born in San Bernardo, Chile on November 12, 1936. He studied in Liceo San Bernardo and worked in Aceros Andes Industries for many years. He married his childhood sweetheart Norma Adriana Flores on August 3, 1961. In September 1974 he was taken by the Chilean Coup, where he was detained unjustly and suffered traumatic tortures. The family never gave up on him.  He never once told his kids what tortures he endured and right up to his passing he had nightmares of that time. Once released, he moved his family and the Molina-Solar family to Argentina for a brief time and was in transit for twelve months until he was selected by the United Nations to come to Canada.

Timoteo arrived with his wife and four children in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1976. In which he later moved to Calgary, Alberta in August of 1978. He had his own business, where he worked alongside his wife Norma. Together they raised and educated their children and helped raise their grandchildren. He had a strong love for soccer, in which he helped establish the first Colo-Colo youth and adult soccer teams that till this day are still remembered by many in Calgary. He loved to entertain, and it was shown as his home was always full of family and friends.

Timoteo fought a hard battle against Stroke, Bladder Cancer, and Parkinson’s disease for many years. He was well cared for at home by his wife Norma, children, sister (Juana) and cousins Patricia and Ana until the very end.

Besides his loving wife Norma Solar, Timoteo is survived by his children, Silvia (Mauricio), Katherina (Esteban), Monica (Jorge), Carlos (Elena), Solange (Carlos), Cecilia (Julio), and Ally (Juan); grandchildren, Luis (Izabella) Jennifer, Daniyel, Sophia, Alexa, Sebastian, Nicolas, Alexander, Carlos (Mubina), Edgar (Renata) and all of his grandchildren in Chile; great- grandchildren, Victoria, Avi, Levi, Lucas, Madina, Kai, Lua and all great-grandchildren in Chile.  Timoteo is also survived by his siblings, Juana Molina, Aladino (Hortenzia) Solar, Carmen (Carlos) Pavez and numerous nieces and nephews in Calgary, AB Canada, Canberra, NSW Australia, Santiago, Chile and Toronto, Canada.

Timoteo was predeceased by his parents, Timoteo and Adelaida Solar; sister and brother-in-law Lila & Jorge Moreno; brothers-in-law, Mario Molina, Alejo and Froilan; mother-in-law Violanda; and sisters-in-law, Nancy, Edith, and Lidia.
