Obituary of Samuel Stephen O'Keefe

March 2, 1972 – Bellshill, Scotland

December 7, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved father, son and brother, Sam O’Keefe, on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at the age of 49 in Calgary, AB.

Sam was born to Tony and Elizabeth O’Keefe at the Bellshill Maternity Hospital on March 2, 1972, in Bellshill, Scotland. Tony and Elizabeth immigrated to Calgary, AB, in the summer of 1975, with their three sons, Jim, Tony and Sam. 

Sam graduated from Mount Royal University with a bachelor’s degree in business and furthered his education by studying engineering at the University of Calgary. Sam met and married Amanda Harris in July of 2003, and shortly after celebrated the births of their two beautiful children Kara and Jarred, which were the lights of his life. Sam had a passion for music from a very young age. He loved photography, astronomy, hiking, camping, and sports, especially hockey. Sam was a diehard Flames fan!! But what he loved most in this world was spending as much time with his kids as possible.

Sam is survived by his mother Elizabeth O’Keefe, his two children Kara and Jarred O’Keefe, his two brothers Jim O’Keefe (Karin O’Keefe), and Tony O’Keefe, his sister Elizabeth Lee (Rob Lee); and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Sam is also survived by his numerous aunts, uncles and cousins in Scotland and England.

Sam was predeceased by his father Tony O’Keefe, who passed away on June 21, 1983, in Calgary, AB.
