Obituary of Ximena Haseltine

December 10, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

 

Ximena Haseltine of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her close friends of many years, and from a distance, by her family in Chile, on Friday, December 10, 2021, at the age of 77 years.

 

Ximena was born in Santiago, Chile. She graduated from university and soon went to the United States where she completed a master’s degree in Linguistics at Indiana University. She then moved to Calgary where she had a successful career as an ESL teacher at Alberta Vocational College, later named Bow Valley College. Ximena loved teaching and her students appreciated her dedication to help them succeed. She was a caring friend, always lively and optimistic, even when not in good health.

 

In her spare time Ximena loved taking long walks in Fish Creek Park and spending time in Waterton, where she stayed on many summer vacations.  She also enjoyed travelling with her sister and cousins from Chile who often came to visit her.

 

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church (1600, Acadia Drive S.E., Calgary, AB) on Friday, December 17, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. Condolences, memories and photos can also be shared and viewed here. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to the St. Bonaventure Catholic Church.
