Condolences
Mrs. Johnston was my music teacher in the 80s at University School and all these years later she still stands out as one of the best teachers I ever had. I remember her walking us to the Opening Ceremonies of the ‘88 Olympics where our school choir was performing. The temperature was bone-chilling but she kept our spirits up and turned the walk and performance into an adventure. She is one of the people who inspired me to become a teacher. ❤️
I just heard of Gerry's passing today. My heart is with all the family - she was such special person to so many people! Gateway Singers was a transitional music and life experience for all who sang under her baton - I am so happy we had a Gateway reunion to celebrate the joy of singing together, the power of music on young lives!
Gerry was an inspiration to me - a woman who walked tall through all that life presented her, returning to university later in life, and enjoying a leadership career of teaching and sharing the power of music and song.
Thank you Geraldine Johnston for touching my life - May the Lord bless you and keep you, until we meet again.
