Condolences
Sincere Condolences to the family of Thomas Calder
I just came across Tommy’s obituary when searching for information on The H.M.T. St Cathan.
I first learned of Tommy when I made email contact with his son Eddie about 5 years ago searching for my Uncle Lawrence lost at sea with the St Cathan.
It was as honour and a privilege to communicate with Tommy via Eddies emails and get to know the only remaining St Cathan survivor. Fortunately Tommy was very generous sharing information about his life as well as the St Cathan and Crew.
The obituary is a great tribute to Tommy and his life and very fitting to include the history of H.M.T St Cathan along with his shipmates names as I understand they were constantly in his thoughts from the loss at sea 80yrs ago on April 11th.

I remember Tommy in the kitchen carving a turkey that had all it's bones removed prior to being roasted. There was such merriment and laughter in the home. My family who lived in Calgary at the time were honored to share in this festive time with you and yours.
I learned some interesting things about Tommy. It would have been great to have talked to him and documented his stories in his own words but you have these great stories and memories in your families hearts.
He will always be with you.
