Obituary of Henry Alexander Dahl

November 1, 1947 – Drumheller, Alberta

December 16, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Hank Dahl on December 16, 2021, at the age of 74 years, after a lengthy battle with cancer. His incredible sense of humour always prevailed, even in illness.

Hank was born in Drumheller, AB, and was raised on his parent’s farm, north of Delia. He would often say “the one thing I learned about farming, is that I don’t want to be a farmer.”

At the age of 17, Hank ventured out into the world and joined United Farmers of Alberta (UFA), where he found his passion for business. When an opportunity arose at the age of 28, he acquired a small lumber trading office called Mayfair Lumber Sales Ltd. Over the next 45 years, Hank grew Mayfair into a successful wholesale lumber sales and remanufacturing plant.

Hank was a family man. He cherished every moment spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, and extended relatives. A generous, kind, and gentle individual, Hank had many friends. He was a man of the highest integrity, patience, and character.

The simplest pleasures brought great joy to Hank. He was an avid reader and loved to spend time golfing or relaxing at his home in Phoenix. On occasion, Hank would enjoy a drink or two.

Hank leaves behind his loving wife Rhonda, daughter Tamara Dahl; sons, Jeff and Eric Dahl; two grandchildren Brandon and Chelsea Stevens; two great-grandchildren Adeline and Henrik Jensen; two sisters Shirley Newman and Sharon Kaiser; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Hank was predeceased by his parents, Oscar and Jean Dahl, and his sister Colleen Goronuk.

Hank was a role model to many, and he will be dearly missed.

At Hank’s request, there will be no funeral service. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed here.
