Obituary of Darlene Sharon Drunken Chief

Darlene Drunken Chief beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on Saturday, December 18, 2021, at the age of 67 years.

 

Darlene loved dancing and music, crafts, camping, berry picking, decorating, painting and family gatherings. She loved her children with all of her being.

 

She was certified in home care and worked with the elders at the Siksika Lodge for several years. When not working she spent time with her family, often cooking her favorite meal of short ribs.

 

Darlene is survived by her children, Gary, Gaylene (Cody), Kim (Bill) and Kingsley; special children, Dashaun (Shanille), Jenna (John) and Jeremy; her grandchildren, Sonny, Jerilynn, Cameron, Kayla, Britney, Sharena, Brandon, Madison, William, Haven, Javell and Kayzley; great-grandchildren, Mary, Zoey, Hector, Knowledge and Ethan. She is also survived by her siblings, Arlene (Alvin), Brian (Maureen), Stewart (Tanya), Wallace (Theresa) Bear Chief, Clement Bear Chief, Arthur Bear Chief, Joan Bear Chief, Melvin Bear Chief, Roy (Elaine) Bear Chief, Alvina Cutter, Celeste (Horace) Bull Bear, Robert (Gwendora) Bear Chief and Patsy Bear Chief; her uncles Joe (Claudia) Patrick and Gordon (Christine) Big Snake; her aunties Ruth Scalplock, and Marie Calf Robe. She is also survived by her chosen, traditional extended family; her sisters, Verna, Debbie, her brother Fred and her children, Suzanne, Nicole, Brooke, and Raelynn; as well as her extended family members from the Big Snake, Breaker, Doore, Prairie Chicken, Rabbit Carrier, Scout, Cayenne, Sitting Eagle, Robinson, Mayfield, Turning Robe, Crane Bear and Crane families.  The family apologizes for anyone they may have missed.

 

Darlene was predeceased by her father Walker Bear Chief, Mother Jane Drunken Chief; siblings, Wallace Cutter, Raymond Cutter, Delma Fox, Melvin Drunken Chief, Clement Drunken Chief, Hector Winnipeg Sr., and Roy Drunken Chief; her daughter-in-law Charlotte Drunken Chief; and grandchild Billy Drunken Chief.

 

Wake Services will be held at the residence of Darlene Drunken Chief, Map 9, House 81, Siksika Nation on Monday December 27th 2021 at 6:00 p.m.

 

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Catholic Church (Box 204, Cluny AB) on December 28th, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Little Washington Cemetery (Siksika Nation, AB).  A drive-thru feast will follow the graveside service at the residence of Darlene Drunken Chief.  Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed on Darlene’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
