Obituary of Roosevelt (Cheesino) Cecil

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the unexpected passing of Roosevelt Cecil. He was called home by our Creator on December 17, 2021, at the age of 48 years.

Roosevelt was born in Calgary, AB, and raised in Morley, AB. He was a caring, loving, and humble person. He received his education at Morley Community School. He was employed by the Stoney Tribal Administration in various departments, such as Tribal Police Officer and Eden Valley Health Transportation Driver as well with Shawnee Company. He enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing as well as playing baseball with his cousins as a family team. He had a strong belief in his traditional and cultural ways.

Roosevelt is survived by his children, Silas, (Tamsyn), Roesha (Guy), Clinton, Cage, Elias, Bracy, Michaleis, Wendall Jr., and Jael. He is also survived by his father Franklin Cecil, his brothers, Tercyak and Chad; his sisters, Raquel, Teshalene (Brent), and Jeralyn; his three grandchildren, Kessel, Guy Jr., and Kaston; his aunts, Marvalene (Justin), Yolanda (Floyd), Cindy and Nancy Ear; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, and nieces. We apologize if we have missed anyone.

Roosevelt was predeceased by his mother Jeanette Ear, brother Arvid, paternal grandparents, Gordon (Evelyn) Cecil; maternal grandparents, Ronald Poucette and Doris Ear.

Wake Services will be held at the late Roosevelt Cecil’s residence (Morley, AB) on Sunday, December 26, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Funeral Services will be held at the residence of Roosevelt Cecil (Morley, AB) on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at 12:00 p.m.  Graveside Service to follow at the Cecil Family Cemetery (Morley, AB).  Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Roosevelt’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
