Obituary of David Abraham

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father, brother, grandpa, great-grandpa, uncle, brother-in-law, cousin, friend, David Abraham on Sunday, December 19, 2021 at the age of 62 years old.

David attended Big Horn Day School. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and hiking in the woods. He wasn’t a man of many words, however his presence spoke volumes. When he did speak he often had people laughing.

He was a respectful and caring individual who supported people as much as he could. David strongly believed in his traditional ways and was a highly regarded pipe holder, Sundance maker and medicine man.

David is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Valerie Poucette; his sons, Wesley and Wayne (Kona); children that he took as his own, Robert, Tristan (Leona), Sonya (Brian); special grandsons who he cherished, loved and would do anything for them, Marius (Jayden), Trayson, Jarelle, and Loaiza; ten grandchildren and a great-grandchild; siblings, John Wesley, Marie Shortneck, Darrol (Ina) Shortneck; and adopted brother, Jackson Wesley (Brenda); his best friends, Gardner Poucette, Irvin Wolftail and Vern Hunter.

He is also survived by his aunties, Mary Jane, Danette, Emily, and Mary; uncle Charlie Abraham; close cousins, Krista, Lorraine, Alice, Verna, Thelma, Nigel, Marvin Abraham, Lorraine Abraham, Harvey Abraham and Vernon Abraham; mother-in-law Maisie Poucette; sisters-in-law, Martina (Conrad), Angie (Reggie), Mel (Jerome) and Mary (Glen) ; brothers-in-law, Marlon and Ivan; numerous nieces, nephews and relatives from Maskwacis, Big Horn, Morley, and Paul Band. We apologize if we have missed anyone.

David was predeceased by his parents, Joseph (2005) and Marjorie (1998); sister Evelyn (1986); brothers, Nowell (1957) and Garrett (2018); nephews, Dion (2015), Charlie (2016), Shannon (2021), and Preston (2021); nieces, Joey (2015), Delina (2020), and Robin (2021); and close cousin Cameron.

Wake Services will be held at the Residence of Valerie Poucette (Morley, AB) on Tuesday, December 28, and Wednesday, December 29, 2021.
