Obituary of June Alexander

June 19, 1919 - Victoria, British Columbia

December 22, 2021 - Calgary, Alberta

Our beloved mother, June Alexander, passed away on December 22, 2021, at the age of 102 years.

Mom was interested in the world and loved to travel and have new experiences. She loved to laugh. She especially loved her family. She was a wonderful cook. She loved a full glass of wine and a hot cup of coffee. She had a Bachelor of Social Work from UBC and was a social worker, kindergarten teacher, and yoga teacher. She had a Feldenkrais practice and a meditation practice.

She and Dad lived many years at Lacombe Lake, where they created a warm and welcoming home for our many fun family gatherings. With great love for the lake, wildlife, birds, and us, they truly were the spirit of the place. Mom adored the summer and kayaked on the lake until her 87th year. She also enjoyed swimming, gardening, cooking, and reading. Mom remained in her home at “the lake” until just after her 100th birthday celebration, after which she moved to Calgary.

Left with cherished memories are her four loving children, Ted (Yvonne), Anita (Richard), Marni (Rob) and Rob; ten grandchildren and many loving partners; and fifteen great-grandchildren, with one more due soon. June is also fondly remembered by dear friends, Shirley, Pearl, Carol, and Marj.

June was predeceased by her loving husband Lloyd George Alexander after 63 years of happy marriage, on October 13, 2015; her beloved and never forgotten first husband Edward Addy Davis on January 30, 1944, who died in WWII; her parents, John Sydney and May Sybil Byrom (nee Harlock); and her dear sisters, Anna, Pat, and Rosemary.

Mom was an inspiration to all of us with her joie de vivre, generosity, kindness, compassion, gratitude, and courage. With tears of sorrow and of joy, we will, at a later date have a celebration of a life well lived. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed on June’s obituary at McInnisandholloway.com

We thank the staff at Trinity Lodge and the Southwood Hospice for their loving care of our mom.

In living memory of June Alexander, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes, Park Memorial.
