Obituary of Kelly Owen Farmer

May 6, 1956 – Napinka, Manitoba

December 22, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

 

Kelly Farmer, husband of Perry Welygan of Calgary, Alberta, passed away on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at the age of 65 years.

 

Kelly grew up on the family farm with his brothers and sisters. As a young adult he moved to Calgary then to Medicine Hat.  He worked at Good Year, Canadian Fertilizer and Canadian Pacific Railway as a conductor and then in the Calgary office.  Last July he retired from his hobby job at Calgary Co-op Liquor store. Kelly liked spending time in Elkwater with his children and family at the cabin or on the golf course. Kelly was looking forward to more camping with Perry in their new trailer that they had just purchased. Kelly enjoyed spending time with the grandchildren and was luckily able to celebrate Christmas this year on the Saturday before his passing.

 

Besides his loving husband, Kelly is survived by his daughter Kelsey (Curtis) Bouw of Bow Island, AB, son Corey (Dawn) Farmer of Cochrane, AB; four grandchildren, Erik (Trista Smith) and Lynden Bouw of Bow Island, Luca and Olivia Farmer of Cochrane.

 

Kelly is also survived by his brother Larry (Jo-Lynn Wesley) of Heritage Pointe, AB; two sisters, Katherine (Ken) Smart of Waskada, MB, Sandra (Keven) Anderson of Melita, MB; sisters-in-law, Colleen Farmer of Killarney MB and Joy (Chris) Preston of Nipawin, SK; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

 

Kelly was predeceased by his parents George and Pearl Farmer and his brother Donald Farmer.

 

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at start 10:00 a.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Those attending will be asked to provide valid government identification (with name and date of birth) AND confirm one of the following: (A)Provincial vaccine record with QR code (paper or digital); OR (B)negative COVID test (within 72 hours); or (C)valid medical exemption (signed letter); OR (D)under 12 years of age. Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Mr. Farmer’s service streamed live (see below) on the day of the service. For those who are unable to view live, a recording of the service will be posted. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
