Obituary of Henrick "Preston" Shortneck

January 29, 1975 – December 18, 2021 

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved dad, grandpa, brother, cousin and friend Henrick Preston Shortneck, on Wednesday, December 18, 2021 at the age of 46 years.

He was born at Rocky Mountain House and grew up in Big Horn Reserve where he attended Day School. In 1992 he stayed with his first wife and resided in Morley with her. 

He enjoyed outdoor activities like baseball, but his most favourite of all was going hunting and camping with his family. He enjoyed hunting with his late brother and was an amazing story teller.  He would always put a smile on people’s faces. His humour and jokes will be missed by many of his family and friends. Often, he would tell them he liked to break dance. 

Preston is survived by his children, Suzette, Tyvin (Araya) , Justina, Colby, and Brendel Hunter; his  adopted daughters Anisha Wesley and Sky Twoyoungmen; his beloved and much cherished granddaughter Annayla; brothers Clayton, Greg and Darcy Shortneck; sisters, Teresa, Neva and Erica; aunties, Maria Shortneck, Lorraine Abraham, Krista, Thelma and Alice; his uncles, Darrol (Ina) Shortneck, John Wesley and Charlie Abraham from Bighorn; his first cousins, Charles, Barry, Reggie, George and Olivia Wesley; his grandma Mary Jane Crane; and numerous relatives from the Maskwacis, Sunchild, Beaverbone, Bull, Shortneck, Rain and Twins families. We apologize if we have missed anyone.

Preston was predeceased by his first common-law wife Cynthia Wesley; his mother Evelyn Shortneck; his father Henry Beaverbone; his grandparents Joe and Maisie Shortneck; paternal grandparents The Beaverbom family from Sunchild Reserve; his brothers Shannon and Hyland Shortneck; his uncles Garrett and David Shortneck;  a baby son; and Charlie Shortneck, and Dalina Poucette. 

Wake Services will be held at the residence of Annie Wesley (Morley, AB) on Sunday, January 2, 2022.
