Obituary of Ferdinand Johannes Heskes

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ferdinand “Fred” Johannes Heskes on December 23, 2021.  He passed peacefully with his brother Frank and sister-in-law Monika at his side at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary, AB.

Fred was born in Heerlen, Limburg, Netherland, and immigrated to Calgary with his parents and brother in April of 1960.  Fred was employed at ATCO for 35 years, until his retirement in 2010.  He was a former member of the Calgary Kinsmen Club, and member of the Friends of Heritage Park Chuckwagon Group.  Fred had a lifelong love of owning new vehicles, but his proudest possession was his mint 1991 Miata MX-5.  We will always remember Fred as an example of love, generosity, and the love of being around family and friends. 

Fred will be greatly missed by his brother and sister-in-law Frank and Monika Heskes, and nephews Justin Heskes (Katharine), Hendrik and Charles, and Reid Heskes (Meabh), Bode and Mikaela.

Fred was predeceased by his mother Betty in 1979, and his father Franciscus in 1998. 

A private family cremation was held on December 30, 2021.  There will be no funeral as requested by Fred.  Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
