Obituary of William (Bill) Carroll

December 27, 2021 - Calgary, Alberta

William Carroll, beloved husband of Lilian (nee Feury), of Calgary, Alberta, passed away on Monday, December 27, 2021, at the age of 86 years.

William was born in Liverpool, England on March 13, 1935. He joined the RAF in England and following his two years of National Service started his career in merchandising for a large catalogue retailer. William married Lilian in Liverpool in 1963 where they started their family. They immigrated to Canada in 1972. William accomplished much through his life and was particularly proud of becoming a published author (“Death Only Needs to Win Once: The Trials and Tribulations of One Liverpool Lad”). William had a passion for scrabble, crosswords, and English football. He loved travelling back to England to visit family and friends and visited many areas of Europe. He will be most remembered for his quick Liverpool wit and trying to make people smile. He will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all who knew him.

William is survived by his daughter, Alison Benneweis (Russell); and his two sons, Andrew (Vivianne) and Michael (Tamiko); granddaughters Julia and Victoria; brother Charles; and two sisters, Betty Burns and Joan Smith; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends. William was predeceased by his loving wife Lilian.

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Crowfoot, 82 Crowfoot Circle NW, Calgary, AB), on Friday, January 7, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Those attending will be asked to provide valid government identification (with name and date of birth) AND confirm one of the following: (A)Provincial vaccine record with QR code (paper or digital); OR (B)negative COVID test (within 72 hours); or (C)valid medical exemption (signed letter); OR (D) under 12 years of age. The funeral service will be streamed live (see below) on the day of the service. For those who are unable to view live, a recording of the service will be posted. Condolences, memories and photos may also be shared and viewed here.
