Obituary of Dale Edward Peter Morasch

April 21, 1958 – Calgary, Alberta
December 28, 2021 - Calgary, Alberta

Dale Edward Peter Morasch beloved husband of Ava Morasch and devoted father to Dustin Morasch passed away peacefully at home in Calgary on Tuesday, December 28, 2021.

Dale was born in Calgary, Alberta on April 21, 1958. He often reminisced about great times and long-lasting friendships he made in his neighbourhood growing up, in High School (James Fowler); on motorcycle adventures with friends, camping and hunting trips, and the fun he had in every challenge. For most of his career (36 years) he worked as a welder (Boilermaker), and then Union Shop Chairman for CP Rail where some of his best storytelling was based. After retiring he truly enjoyed part time work at Rona (because of the great stories he could tell) and at Bucars RV because of the great friendships he made there.

Dale was often found outdoors, RV camping, or fishing, and over this past year, trips to the forest reserve, lunch by a campfire and chainsaw buzzing were his passion.  Through the years, spending time with Dustin, whether teaching him how to fish, flying remote control planes and drones, metal detecting, and with any number of hobbies was his greatest joy. He travelled miles to rescue a kitten and cared for each pet with love.

He will always be remembered for his story telling, his willingness to help others and his ability to make everyone laugh with life’s adventures.

Besides his loving wife of 39 years, Ava, whom he met in high school, Dale is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Dustin Morasch and Megan McWilliam of Calgary, AB. Dale is also survived by his aunts Judy McMann (Vern), Andrea Konschuh and Elaine Konschuh; sister Leanna Swinton (Murray); brothers-in-law, Jim Weber, Kevin Dunford (Shelley); sisters-in-law, Christyann Olson (Dan), Mary-Jo Woolgar (Peter), Alexis Holstead (Larry);  and numerous  nieces and nephews, and grandnieces and nephews, cousins and life-long friends all of whom he loved very much and will mourn his loss. Dale was predeceased by his parents, Ed and Marianne Morasch of Calgary, Alberta; and his younger sister Lynne Weber of Fanny Bay, B.C.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, June 5, 2022  so that we may honour Dale with memories, friends and family.

The family will enjoy receiving your shared condolences, memories and photos that may also be viewed here. If friends so desire, tributes in Dale's memory may be made directly to Calgary Wildlife Rehabilitation Society at calgarywildlife.org. Ava and Dustin wish to thank Dr. Patricia Tang and her team, (especially Nurse Tracy, who was always up for some banter and laughter), Dr. Bathe and numerous other Health Care Workers for their amazing care and treatment of Dale.

In living memory of Dale Morasch a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes, Crowfoot, 82 Crowfoot Circle NW, Calgary, AB T3G 2T3, Telephone: 403-241-0044.
