Obituary of Gertraud Christel Boettger
January 9, 1933 – Peteswalde, Germany
December 30, 2021 - Calgary, Alberta
Gertraud Boettger of Calgary, AB, passed away on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at the age of 88 years.
Trudy was born in Peterswalde, Kreis Schlochau, Pommern, Germany on January 9, 1933. During the Second World War her family had to escape their home and travel further into Germany, eventually settling into Felde. Trudy lived there with her parents Karl and Emma Kroll until 1959 when she met her husband Heinz Boettger. The two got married on June 24th, 1960 and lived in Neumunster Germany with their three kids, Mike, Sven and Kathy. In October of 1973, Heinz and Trudy packed up the family and moved to Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. Trudy got a job at Woodward in the deli department and there she worked for ten years until moving to Calgary in 1983. She transferred to the Woodwards in Market Mall until Safeway took over. She continued to work there but in the seafood department until her retirement in 1993 at age of 60. Trudy had one granddaughter, Meaghan Barrett, whom she loved and adored very much.
Heinz and Trudy loved to travel and see the world, over the years they visited many places in the United States. Their favorite places were Las Vegas and Hawaii. Trudy always wanted to make memories and she did just that with her family. She also loved to cook for everyone, and always made sure that no one went hungry.
Trudy lived a long, happy and fulfilling life with her family by her side. She will always be missed, but never forgotten.
A Celebration of Trudy’s Life will be held at 55 Lake Sylvan Close SE, Calgary, AB on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. Because of the ongoing concern of the Omicron variant, you must be double vaccinated to attend, please bring your QR code for scanning.
