Obituary of Edward (Ed) Webb

Edward (Ed) Norman Webb of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, December 31, 2021, at the age of 89 years. He died peacefully in his sleep. 

Ed was born in Yorkshire, England on September 18, 1932, the eldest of three children. He loved to cycle across the Yorkshire Moors with his friends. He apprenticed as a cabinet maker until he went into the Armed Forces. The Green Howards was his regiment, and he was stationed in Cypress in the Mediterranean. Sheila (nee Atkinson) and Ed where married in England and immigrated to Canada in 1972. Eddie accomplished much through his life and was particularly proud of being the owner and operator of Cavendish and Moore’s of Penny Lane Calgary.

Ed enjoyed woodworking and made his nephews wooden forts and a dolls house for his niece. Trains and aircraft were also a passion of his. Trains and aircraft were passions of his. He loved to read and was very knowledgeable about history and WWII. Ed was a history buff and always said he wished he had been a history teacher.

Maui was one of his favorite vacation places and he had many happy memories of his vacations there. Also, a trip to Cuba was always up there. He will be most remembered for his sense of humour, his amazing mind, and wealth of knowledge.

Ed is survived by his sister Anita, nephews, Chris and Stephen of Canada, and Barry and David of England; nieces, Debbie of Canada, and Diane of England; great-nephews and nieces in Canada and England; and brothers and sisters-in-law of England. Ed was predeceased by his wife Sheila in 2000, his mother in 1975, his father in 1996, and his brother Raymond in 2020.
