Condolences
I was so sorry to hear of Carolyn’s death. We were such good friends in the early days when she was a beginning teacher like me and our husbands were the best of friends. I had always hoped to reunite for a coffee or beer sometime. So sad. XO.
Here is a poem that expresses exactly how I feel:

Ed and I are stunned and deeply saddened to learn of Carolyn’s death and wish to extend our condolences and sympathies to all the family. We moved into the fourplex on 3rd St in Canmore at the same time as Carolyn and had many happy times together over good food and wine…and with her darling grandchildren often present! We sold our place and moved to Eagle Terrace in Canmore where one evening in 2016 we met Carolyn and Terry at the Iron Goat…what a wonderful surprise to see them again…and we once more gathered over good food and wine, delighting in conversations about art, politics and the joys of living both abroad and in other parts of Canada. We knew she had sold her place in Canmore but we were not aware of her illness and are so sorry to know that she is gone far too soon.
We trust that the many years of wonderful memories of life with Carolyn will help to assuage your sorrow and bring on smiles and laughter. She was a captivating and engaging person whose smile was truly infectious!

Hello,
I felt a yearning to reach out to Mrs. Purdys family. I didn’t know her, but in an odd way have felt very close to her the past 6 years. You see, I live in a house on Old Mill road that her and John lived in together. We still get the odd envelope for John in the mail, who funny enough has the same name as my husband. I heard a lot about how exquisite she was from the neighbors, how beautiful she made everything in this home. I know that the things I love the most about my home has her handprint, especially the garage turned art studio. I myself am an artist, and my 6 year old daughter and I now sit and paint together in Carolyn’s studio. I know you may never get this message, but I had to reach out. Even when we don’t know a person they can still impact our lives. If possible at all, would you be willing to send some pictures of the art work she would have created in this home. I can only imagine how beautiful they are. Thank you for reading, and I am sending much love and light to you and your family during this time of loss.

Very sorry to hear the news of Carolyn’s passing. I first met Carolyn in Fredericton through her love of art and painting . Sylvia and I enjoyed many evenings at John and Carolyn’s home were they were warm and generous hosts. So very sad to hear of her passing. Sylvia and I send our condolences to her family and send good wishes and thoughts their way.
Dear Sarah, Anna & families: We were shocked to read Carolyn`s obituary in the Gleaner. We were John`s patient`s even during his declining health. It was in his office we met your Mum. Such a very special lady who was so compassionate and outgoing with everyone. After John`s passing, we spoke of her often and have wondered about her so many times. We know God will give you comfort and peace knowing she fulfilled her dreams and had a very vibrant life. Please know you are all in our prayers.
My deepest sympathies to Carolyn’s family and especially to my beloved friend Anna.
I was so blessed to have known and been inspired by Carolyn’s spirit, grace, humour and beauty. Not to mention her art. I look at her beautiful poppies everyday and am so thankful to have shared a chapter of my life with her. Rest in peace my sweet friend. Love Kim
