Obituary of Bryan Richard Deegan
Our cowboy traded his spurs for wings on January 2, 2022
It is with broken hearts that Bryan’s family announces his peaceful passing, after a courageous and difficult journey with kidney disease.
Bryan’s positive approach to each challenge was with hope, strength, grace and dignity and he was supported and embraced by his faith, his family, his friends, and his amazing dialysis team.
We celebrate Bryan’s 80 years, and fifty incredible years with his loving wife, Lynn.
Bryan’s pride and passion was his family, Shawn and Leah, Cory and Isabel, and the wind beneath his wings, and absolute love and joy, were his cherished grandchildren Kai, Cruse, Elsa June, Finn and Filippa.
Bryan will be missed by his sister Sherrill, sisters-in-law, Gail and Pat. Uncle B was loved by his many nieces and nephews and fondly remembered by his cousins, especially Mary. It brings comfort to know he is reunited with his brother Derek, and their dog Skippy.
Dad was a talented athlete, skier and fisherman and cherished his role as coach to many in hockey, soccer, and baseball. He was proud of his 42 years with CP Rail, his Montreal Canadiens, his Irish heritage, and he was a true cowboy at heart.
Bryan will be remembered for his beautiful smile and sense of humour, his gentle loving heart, his kindness and generosity, and his storytelling that he loved to share with his family and many treasured friends.
It is most unfortunate, that due to our difficult times with Covid restrictions, Bryan’s funeral mass will be private.
In Bryan’s memory, and with our appreciation, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Consideration for guide dogs at the CNIB, your community food bank or local hospital in support of our amazing health care workers.
We would like to thank the many doctors, nurses, EMS and caregivers who cared so graciously for our dad. We also encourage you to have a conversation with your family about organ donation.
Remember Bryan with a smile, through an act of kindness, making a telephone call to a friend, enjoying a cup of coffee in the sunshine on the deck, sipping a pint of Traditional or a Choke-a-Horse Brown Ale, sharing a #18, Serge Savard special at Michael’s Pizza, discovering Mother Nature, especially the birds and the deer, and always have a dog treat in your pocket for your favourite puppy.
Bryan lived his life beautifully; he was deeply loved and know that you have each made a difference in his life.
Happy Trails Bryan ~ until we meet again.
