Condolences
I first met Arthur in 1949 when we stayed at the same rooming house in Westmount. I was going to McGill at the time and Arthur was working at Dominion Textiles and taking degree courses at night. We were good friends ( who wouldn't be with such a nice person as Arthur ) and it was a privilege to meet Beatrice then as well. They connected immediately and you could see the love there. Arthur was an Usher at my wedding in 1952, and Beatrice attended as well. Unfortunately, our career paths took us apart, but we kept in touch, and I always enjoyed reading his great letters. Arthur was one of the really good guys that I met along this life- path and I treasure having made his acquaintance.
My sincere condolences to his family, especially Beatrice who I am sure will miss him more than words can express.

What a beautiful memorial service! The service brought back warm memories of our times together in Vermont & Montreal, years ago. It was nice to see all the family faces today; Karen and Diana and Peter, of course, but also the grandchildren, who look so much like their parents.
I remember Uncle Arthur primarily for his unfailing kindness and good nature. He had his distinctive way of speaking and writing. He was always interested in the goings-on of all family members, near and far. He had a gentle way of offering his advice. We exchanged Christmas cards almost every year, and Uncle Arthur hand-wrote his cards (in his lovely handwriting) with family updates well into advanced age.
I am sure that the warm memories of your dad will comfort you during this difficult time.
What a guy.
With love,
Cousin Janet
He was not a man of many words but it was always wisdom and a lesson to be learnt when he did . He was always kind . Some of the memories I have are are trips on the weekends to the skating rink I would love going with him or at the cottage taking his morning laps in the lake (every once and a while I would be brave enough to ho out with him ) making oatmeal with him in the morning or watching figure skating during the Olympics . He loved classical music plays and Oprah’s and every now and then we would get to attend some of them . He was a hard worker but always found time for family . Every now and then he would like to indulge in fun like are bowling tournaments or Chinese food night or the chicken restaurant in Montreal or in the summer are trips to Newport where we all wore about 5 layers of clothes back home because we may have indulged a bit to much with shopping lol . He always had great stories to tell and wisdom to pass on to us . You will be forever loved missed and never forgotten and you have touched so many of our life’s . Rest peacefully Papa I love you
SB.
Papa was the epitome of a gentleman – polite, courteous, generous and honourable. He always asked how you were doing and loved to praise you for your efforts, however great or small. I will miss his wise (sometimes long-winded) toasts at family dinners, the way he listened intently to your stories, but above all, his example of integrity and hard work.
“Helllloooooo!” That was the welcome we always received when we would arrive from our long drive up to Canada to visit family. Many of us would do our best to imitate him as best we could. We always tried to act like Papa; his walk with his hands behind his back while doing his type of whistling.
I will miss his welcoming hug and smell.
Love you Papa.
