Obituary of Elvina Wesley

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, mother-in-law, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, Elvina, who has gone home to be with our Heavenly Father the Great Creator on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at the age of 75 years. 

Elvina was a talented artist, cultural, outdoor person. She has created astounding beadwork, tanning hides, mossbag making, dry meat cutting. As a young crafts person she was also very creative in artwork with painting and coloring pictures at Bethany Care. Her one art painting won first prize with the highest bid among all other contestants. 

She is survived by her companion Virgil Stephens, her daughters, Laverne (Douglas) and Leona (Tristan); her sons, Jarrod and Evan (Betty); her daughter-in-law Trudy, her sisters, Mary, Maxine, Linda (Marty), Lori-Anne (Lawerence); her brother Johnny, and adopted brother Frank Turningrobe, her beloved grandchildren, Natasha, Evania (Keegan), Elvinia, Tanisha (Stephan), Chantelle (Trent), Jaron, Jared, Cyrus, Christopher, Chavez Jaretdean, Sarah, Trey, Liara; her precious great-grandchildren, Alexander, Brielle, Rozay, Adira, Ozias, Donnie, Ivy, Kehlani; her nieces, nephews, and cousins. Elvina is survived by the families of Bearspaw, Ear, Lefthand, Wesley, Fox, Amos, Baptiste, Kootenay, Holloway, Poucette, Smalleyes, Daniels, Dixon, Mark, Chiniquay, Beaver, Powderface, Rider, and Twoyoungmen. We apologize if we have missed anyone.

She was predeceased by her husband Ivan Wesley Sr., son Ivan Wesley Jr., grandson Boyvin Wesley, granddaughter Eleasha Wesley, great-grandson M.K., parents, William and Lucy Ear; maternal grandparents, Hanson and Eunice Bearspaw; siblings Lenard, Mina, Stewart Bearspaw, and Jerry Ear.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McInnis & Holloway (Cochrane, 369 Railway Street, Cochrane, AB), on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wake Services will be held at the Residence of the Late Elvina Wesley (Morley, AB), on Wednesday, January 19, 2022. Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Cochrane, 369 Railway Street, Cochrane, AB) on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at 12:00 p.m.  Graveside Service to follow at Chiniki Cemetery (Morley, AB).  Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed here.
