CASKEY, Rose “Ann” (nee Reed)
November 15, 1934 – Toronto, Ontario
January 12, 2022 – Calgary, Alberta

Rose “Ann” Caskey passed away peacefully at the Rockyview Hospital in Calgary, Alberta on January 12, 2022, in her 87th year, with her daughters present and sons in Ontario through video chat.

(A poem treasured by mom):

Why God Made Friends
God made the world with a heartful of love,
Then He looked down from Heaven above,
Someone to share with, who’ll understand.
He made special people to see us through
The glad times and the sad times, too.
A person on whom we can always depend,
Someone we can call a friend.
God made friends so well carry a part
Of His perfect love in all our hearts.
- Jill Wolf

Ann is remembered by those who have met her as a kind, caring, welcoming, and a generous woman with an infectious laugh. She blessed many with her friendship.

Ann was a loving mother to Linda Flegg (Robert), Susan Macdonald (Douglas), David Caskey (Margie), Mary Noordermeer (Xavier) and Barton Caskey (Heather). A loving sister to John Frey (Sandra); a loving Aunt to many nieces and nephews; and a cherished Grandmother to many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. We were fortunate that her granddaughter Cassaundra supported Mom’s desire to continue living independently.

She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, J. David Caskey of Woodstock, Ontario, her parents, Ralph Brown Reed (1949) and Rosy Isobella Flint (1991); and her siblings, Margaret Best (2015), Flora Anne Weir (2015), Berta Liddiard, Theresa Reed (2015), and Joseph Reed (2020).

Cremation has taken place. Ann’s family will celebrate her life at future dates in Woodstock, Ontario and her favorite place, Arizona.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to her favorite charities in her honor to the Canadian Legion in your area, Wild Horses of Alberta Society Reg # 86431 5288 RR 0001 or the Cancer Society. Condolences, memories and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
