Obituary of Robert John MacDuff

It is with immense sadness that we announce the loss of our brother and uncle, Robert “John” (Johnalo) MacDuff at the age of 55. John passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 20, 2022 in Calgary after a courageous and brief illness. 

John was born in Calgary. He had a passion for cars, loved listening to music, and enjoyed bird watching. He had a genuinely bubbly personality and enjoyed having conversations with friends. John lived a simple life, was a kind soul and a bright spark, and will be greatly missed. We take comfort in knowing that John is now at peace, surrounded by light. 

He is lovingly remembered by his sister Victoria MacDuff (Clint), and niece Alexis Cherkowski and extended Cherkowski family. He will be dearly missed by his cousins in Ontario: John (Debbie) Franic, Fred (Diane) Franic, and Michael Franic (Brenda). He will be missed by numerous relatives and dear friends. John was predeceased by his parents, Robert Earl MacDuff and Francis Ivanac. 

The family would like to thank the staff at Unit 72, Rockyview Hospital, and the staff at Dulcina Hospice. The family graciously acknowledges Wendy Cestari, Ann Treffler and extended family. Thank you for your endearing and long-lasting friendship with my brother. You were considered one of his rocks and he valued your friendship. Your unwavering kindness is humbling and will never be forgotten. Thank you to the Davidoffs for your support and generosity. Thank you to the Martins for your friendship and prayers. 

Please remember John by doing a random act of kindness unexpectedly and without explanation, or donate to an animal shelter. 

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Crowfoot, 82 Crowfoot Circle NW, Calgary, AB), on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens. Condolences, memories and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
