William Ruzycki

Obituary of William Daniel Ruzycki

August 23, 1941 – January 20, 2022

Calgary, Alberta

William “Bill” Ruzycki, beloved husband of Carol Ruzycki (nee Clark), of Calgary, AB, passed away on Thursday, January 20, 2022, at the age of 80 years.

Bill was born in Calgary, AB, on August 23, 1941.  He lived most of his life in the Albert Park community in Calgary and was very proud to have built many of the homes in Raddison Heights; he also volunteered and served as the APRH Community President for ten years.  During his career, Bill spent 60 years as a carpenter, and built many homes and businesses.  He was the owner of Cal-Oka Construction and Calgary Custom Framing.  When Bill wasn’t working, you could usually find him outside; he enjoyed feeding the birds, fixing cars, talking to neighbours and working in his yard.  Any time he greeted family and friends, he would say “Howdy, Howdy!”  Bill had a great interest in watching hockey and was a lifelong Stampeder’s fan. But overall, he had an even greater love for spending time with his family, especially his kids and grandkids.  Bill’s most memorable vacation was when he made his way to Memphis and Nashville, finally seeing Graceland and the Grand Ole Opry in 2018; as well as many family trips to Las Vegas, including his 50th wedding anniversary.  He will be most remembered for the love he had for his wife of 55 years and for his kids and grandkids. To others, Bill was known throughout the APRH community to be wearing his signature plaid shirts with a big smile, and always being a champion of the underdog.

Besides his loving wife, Bill is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Greg Walters of Calgary, AB; son and daughter-in-law, Jamie and Jacki Ruzycki of Okotoks, AB; three grandchildren, Joshawa and Janelle Walters, and Brandon Ruzycki.

Bill is also survived by his two brothers and one sisters-in-law, Vic and Joyce Ruzycki, and Fred Ruzycki; his father-in-law John Earle Clark, brother-in-law Keith Clark, sister-in-law Diane (Ken) Jenkins; as well as several nieces, nephews.

Bill was predeceased by his parents Mary and Victor Ruzycki, his brother Leonard Ruzycki, sister-in-law Bonnie Ruzycki, his mother-in-law Evelyn Clark and nephew Jason Clark.

A private family gathering will take place with a public celebration of life to be held at a later date. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Foothills Hospital staff unit 103A CICU, for their caring and compassionate care.

In living memory of William Ruzycki, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes, Eastside, 5388 Memorial Drive NE, Calgary, AB T2A 3V9, Telephone: 403-248-8585.
