Obituary of Michael St. John Swanson

January 22, 2022 - Calgary, Alberta

Michael passed away peacefully at home on January 22, 2022 with his family by his side. 

Michael is lovingly remembered by his wife Lorna of 42 years and daughter Nicole. He is also survived by his brothers, Graham and Jim (Karen) living in England; sisters-in-law, Betty (Gary), Marilyn, Nancy (Keith); and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Donald and Loveday; his sister Loveday, brother-in-law John, as well as his father-in-law Jim and mother-in-law Ruth Webster.

Michael immigrated to Canada as a young man and spent his working life in the farm machinery business ending his career with Ford New Holland. Michael loved the open spaces of Canada, particularly the prairies, and enjoyed anything outdoors and adventurous. He liked to camp, hike and travel to new destinations, both in Canada and abroad, as often as possible. In his later years he spent many hours in his garden and watching his favourite sports: F1 racing, CFL football and hockey. 

Per Michael’s request, there will be no funeral and his ashes will be scattered at a later date. Condolences, memories and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
