Obituary of Sherry Lee Wallace

WALLACE, Sherry Lee (nee Knight)

March 5, 1950 - Calgary, Alberta

January 22, 2022 - Calgary, Alberta

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Sherry Wallace, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend on Saturday, January 22, 2022. Sherry passed away peacefully at home at the age of 71 after a brief battle with cancer.

Sherry was born in Calgary the fourth of seven children. She attended Mount View Elementary School and GP Vanier Junior High School,  performed tap at the Jubilee Auditorium and acted in many school plays. She later attended Crescent Heights High School in Calgary. She was actively involved in the Bay Teen Fashion Council and developed what would become many lifelong friendships. It was also in High School that she met and fell in love with her future husband, Jim.

After High School, Sherry would start the next chapter in her life, balancing a career and raising a family. She was so proud of her two sons and loved watching and cheering the many sports they played. Birthdays and Christmas were precious to Sherry as she always enjoyed bringing joy to others. Sherry worked in the legal department of PWA, and later Canadian Airlines, which allowed the family to travel to many locations around the world including Europe, Asia, and Hawaii. After retiring, Sherry and Jim spent many winters in Palm Springs where they enjoyed golfing, biking, walking, and the many social aspects of Palm Springs life. Sherry’s four grandchildren were her top priority.  She loved spending as much time as possible with them and celebrating at every opportunity. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren for many “Camp Grandmas”.

Sherry was a loving, kind, gentle, caring person, who always put the happiness of others ahead of her own. Her family will be forever grateful for being together for one last Christmas before her passing.

There is a garden, and she is there.  She is sitting quietly with her hands folded and her head bowed.  Her body is at rest and her mind is at peace.  A bright sun warms her skin.  She is not alone; she is with all those she loves that have passed before.  Her eyes are closed, and she is dreaming.  She is dreaming of her family, she is dreaming of her friends, she is dreaming of all of us who remain here for now. She is dreaming of the day when we are together again.  Endlessly dreaming, dream upon dream upon dream… and she is smiling.

Sherry will be lovingly remembered by her husband James (Jim) Wallace. Sherry and Jim fell in love while in high school and their devotion lasted for the 51 years they were married. Besides her loving husband Jim, Sherry is survived by her son Jamie, his wife Kim, and their children, Stephanie, Ashley, and Andrew.  Sherry is survived as well by her son Jeremy, his wife Lori, and their son, Charlie. Sherry is also survived by her three brothers, Keir Knight, Bob Knight (Pat), Kenny Knight (Louise); two sisters, Penny Brock (Bill), and Pam Doll. Sherry is also survived by Jim’s sisters, Susan Antoniuk (Richard), Maureen Jones (Richard), and Donna Romanchuk (Al), with whom she shared many lasting memories.  Sherry will be loving remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many close and lifelong friends. Sherry was predeceased by her mother Tillie Knight and father Alfred Knight, brother Chuck Knight (Colleen), and niece Lisa Antoniuk.
