Obituary of Edna Jayne Magee-Kubota
Edna Jayne Magee-Kubota
And when the earth shall claim your limbs, then shall you truly dance. Kahlil Gibran
Edna Jayne Magee (nee Kubota) passed away peacefully on January 22, 2022, at the age of 86 years with family by her side after a beautiful and well lived life.
Edna will be lovingly remembered by her three children, Rae (Debbie), Rhesa (Donald) and Ron; her grandchildren, Taryn, Christopher, Janelle (Brendan) and Andrew (Zina); her brothers, Jim, and Ric; as well as extended family and close friends. She was predeceased by her brothers, Edward, and Ronald; and her parents, Takayuki Kubota (Tamako) and Anne Seidle (Joseph). Edna was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, auntie, and friend who touched many people with her kind and gentle nature.
Edna was an entrepreneur well before her time, opening and operating “Humpty Dumpty Day Care Centre” in Edmonton in the mid 1960’s. In her thirties, she earned her Bachelor of Education at the University of Alberta. She was passionate about inspiring and educating children and enjoyed teaching for the Edmonton Public School Board for many years. Edna was an avid reader and creative spirit with a talent for silversmithing, needlepoint, sewing and quilting. Edna enjoyed family gatherings, antique shopping, the mountains, music, travelling and her weekly sushi outings.
Our thanks go to the health care providers who assisted Edna through her many health journeys. A celebration of Edna’s wonderful life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, friends may make a donation to the CNIB Foundation, Alzheimer’s Association, or a charity that sings to your heart.
In living memory of Edna, eight trees will be planted in the Sandy Cross Conservation Area: one tree for Edna and seven trees celebrating her circle of children and grandchildren. Arrangements entrusted to Fish Creek Chapel-McInnis and Holloway.
May the roads rise up to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sunshine warm upon your face,
May the rains fall soft upon fields
And until we meet again
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.
