Obituary of Gregory Wayne Alfred Hedch

February 6, 1962 – Fort William (Thunder Bay), Ontario

January 25, 2022 – Calgary, Alberta

Gregory (Greg) Hedch, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2022, at the age of 59 years.

Greg was born in Fort William (Thunder Bay), Ontario on February 6, 1962. In his younger years, he grew up in British Columbia and eventually moved to Edmonton where the family settled. As an adult, he found his way back to the west coast, where he started his own family. They moved to Calgary in the year 2000.

Skilled in carpentry, there wasn’t a thing Greg couldn’t make. Whether it be scaling buildings on the construction site or helping his children create unique school projects, he took great pride in his work. Often could be seen pointing out infrastructure, saying “your dad helped build that!”

Greg accomplished much throughout his life, but his greatest achievement was being a loving father to his kids.  Being very active, they would always ride their bikes all around the city, go Go-kart racing, swimming, and play road hockey. With a love of the outdoors, Greg loved to go camping. He would hitch up the tent trailer and take to the open road with his family, traveling to B.C. and throughout Alberta. Many trips were taken to Edmonton to visit his parents and siblings.

Cars were one of his many passions, his hands were constantly dirty from working on them. His favourite car that he owned was a Camaro Z28. He enjoyed going to car shows and local show and shines admiring the classics.

Greg was a social butterfly, always making friends wherever he went. He would give you the shirt off his back, willing to help whenever the need arose.  We will all miss his quirky sense of humour, one of a kind laugh and huge heart.

Greg is survived by his daughter Tessa; sons, Darren and Christopher, and former wife Mary. He is also survived by his sisters, Wendy and Gwen, brother Allan, and special friend Pamela, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Waiting to greet him are his parents Ida and Alfred, brother Larry; sisters, Judy, Pam and Laura.
