LONG, Caroline “Carrie” Marion

July 14, 1929 – January 28, 2022

Carrie “A very SPECIAL lady” passed away peacefully on Friday, January 28, 2022, at the age of 92 years, surrounded by loved ones.

Carrie was born on July 14, 1929, in the district of Albert Park in Calgary, and remained there all her life. Carrie was always PROUD to call Albert Park her home. The one-room schoolhouse that Carrie attended on 11^th Ave and 28 Street SE is still present in the community and has become a Church over the years. On June 12, 1948, Carrie married Elliott and together they had three girls: Karen, Sharlyne and Shawna.

Carrie enjoyed cooking for special occasions and BBQs for her large family and friends. She cooked her last Christmas dinner for family at the age of 90, for about 25 of us. A wonderful tradition that she has passed on to our family.

Carrie was a faithful cheerleader for the Calgary Flames and Calgary Stampeders, she did NOT like anyone to say anything against “her teams”.

Carrie retired after serval years of working as a teacher’s aide for the Calgary Board of Education, a job she LOVED! In retirement, she enjoyed camping at the River Bend Campground with her family, where she met many GOOD friends!

Carrie was passionate about her family. Her love for them all was to the moon and back.  She had two favorite sayings “call me when you get there” and when I’m gone, “Be Good to each other”.

She will be missed but will never, never, never be ‘FORGOTTEN’.

Carrie is survived by her daughters, Karen Campbell (Byron) and Sharlyne Reid; son-in-law Kevin Cossette; nine grandchildren, Ryan Campbell, Kelly Campbell (Bobby Czank), Jolyne Kalil (Tim), Karriann Sather, Lindsay Podruzny (Ryan), Christopher Parsons (Ivy), Daniel Parsons, Tyler Parsons, and Kristal Karaloff (Curtis); and ten great-grandchildren, Nathan, Piper, Johnathan, Brooklynn, Morgan, Chaselyn, Tavian, Jocelyn, Hannah and Shyanne.

Carrie was predeceased by her parents, William and Mary; her husband Elliott (1982), her youngest daughter Shawna (2021) and her son-in-law Donny Reid (2017); her brother Nick (2004), and two sisters Helen (2009) and Florence “Florrie” (1998). She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
