Obituary of John Fabian Hunter J.R.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved brother, uncle, nephew, grandpa, great-grandpa, great-great-grandpa and friend. 

John (Thoom) was born and raised in Morley, AB. Thoom started his education at the Morley Day School and Spring Bank High School. 
He started his work journey coordinating a youth program, a job he enjoyed a great deal because he got to work with and mentor the youth of the community. He later started working in various departments for the Stoney Tribal Admin.

John (Thoom) loved to travel, take photos of his travels, collect souvenirs, dance pow-wow, and attend sporting events. John (Thoom) was a kind, caring, loving and compassionate man. He also was a strong believer in our cultural ways. He was very humorous, it was rare to see him upset. He was a very bright spirited person who always greeted everyone with a smile and a handshake, Thoom had acceptance for all.

John (Thoom) is survived by his brothers, Vern (Beverly) and Desi (Corrine); his sister Phyllis, special niece Yolande (Mike), nieces and nephews, Ann (Tom), Leanna (Terry), Dianne, Roderick, Belinda, Emily (Rod), Wendy, Gavin, Teddy, Candace, Lenard (Tonia), Vern Jr. (Chass), Francine, Travis, Bo (Kelsey), Jeanine, Nakoda, and Hannah. He also leaves behind extended families, Hunter, Ear, Cecil, Daniels, Beaver, Twoyoungmen and Wesley. We apologize if we have missed anyone as John (Thoom) was loved by many.

John (Thoom) was predeceased by his parents, Wallace Ear (1994) and Udel Hunter (1976); adopted mothers, Ruth Bull and Lily Benjamin; brothers, Gilford Ear (1976), Len Hunter (1999); sister-in-law Bernice Hunter (2005); sisters Hilda Ear (Gary Labelle) (1999), Mabel Ear (2021); adopted sisters, Brenda Goodstoney and Velma (Gerald) Powderface; nephews, Chester Labelle (2008) and Hubert Labelle (2021); niece Madeline Young, granddaughter Renita Young, aunty Lucy Daniels, uncle Naoh (Flora) Ear

Wake Services will be held at the residence Vern and Beverly Hunter (Morley, AB) on Tuesday, February 8, 2022. Funeral Services will be held at Morley Gymnasium (Morley, AB) on Thursday February 10, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Bearspaw Cemetery (Morley, AB).  Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed here.
