Obituary of Addy Shing-Chee Wong

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Addy Wong of Calgary, AB, who passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 30, 2022, at the age of 75 years.

Addy was born in Canton, China on September 6, 1946, the third of seven children.  As an infant, his family emigrated to Hong Kong.  He married the love of his life, Winnie, in Jan 1977 and immigrated to Calgary to start their family. Addy was a devoted husband who held an undying love for Winnie, who predeceased him in 2002, and was a caring and supportive father to his girls. He was a resilient fighter against multiple cancers and hearing loss. Addy spent many Summers on road trips with family and friends, fishing on the coast of B.C. and golfing socially.  Addy will be fondly remembered as an incredibly loyal and genuine friend to all who knew him.

Addy is survived by his daughters and their husbands, Hilda and Kevin, and Rhoda and Cory; his four grandchildren, Ryan, Olive, Charlotte, and Emma; and siblings James, Hally, Judy, Sunny, and Kenneth. Besides his loving wife, Addy was predeceased by his parents and his eldest brother Albert.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McInnis & Holloway (Chapel of The Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB) on Sunday, February 6, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  Graveside Service to follow at Queens Park cemetery. Those attending will be asked to provide valid government identification and vaccination record.

A Funeral Service will be held, on Sunday, February 6, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Mr. Wong’s service streamed live (see below) on the day of the service. For those who are unable to view live, a recording of the service will be posted. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
