Chelsea Finnigan

Obituary of Chelsea Rose Finnigan

July 16, 1997 - Calgary, Alberta

February 1, 2022 - Calgary, Alberta

Chelsea Finnigan, beloved wife of Andy Schneider, of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at the age of 24 years.

Chelsea was born in Calgary, AB, on July 16, 1997. She graduated from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, SAIT, with a diploma in Business Administration with a focus in Marketing. Chelsea and Andy Schneider were together since 2012 and married in 2020.

Chelsea accomplished much through her life and was particularly proud of winning her capstone project during her time at SAIT. Immediately after graduating, she jumped into her adventurous career with the non-alcoholic brewery, Partake, where she had the opportunity to travel to many cities across North America. After the pandemic began, she quickly pivoted to working remotely with the identity and access management start-up, TechJutsu. Outside of her work with TechJutsu, there were many projects which she was passionate about. She co-hosted two podcasts, ‘Arcana Archives’ and ‘Prog Notes: Spotlight’. She also loved putting her skills and charm to use by helping with the social media presence of several organizations and friends, including, but not limited, to an escape room, a church, a group of medical students, and some very special dogs.

Chelsea enjoyed many hobbies and passions in life. She loved to cook and host for her friends, especially relishing the opportunity to have a big birthday party or holiday dinner. Walking, running, biking, backpacking and swimming were just a few of the ways she kept active. From board games to horror movies, painting fences to painting nails, rock concerts to Sunday brunches, video games to visiting the woods, making websites to baking cookies, she was a friend that you could call for anything.

Chelsea often happily reminisced about her favorite camping trips and her treasured vacations to Costa Rica, Mexico, Hawaii, and Niagara Falls. Her favourite saying, and something she lived by, was “If you’re going to do something, do it 100%”. She will be most remembered for her caring nature, tenacity, skill and talent, her incredible parties, and the many deep connections and friendships she created.

Besides her loving husband Andy, Chelsea is survived by her mom and dad, Anna and Tim Finnigan of Calgary, AB, brother Kyle Finnigan of Calgary AB; cousins, Ryan Finnigan, Daylan Duiven, Skylar Duiven, Faith Pauly, Andy Soye, Sarah Soye, Carmelle Mcphee, and her spouse, David McPhee; as well as her beloved first cousin once removed Anne McPhee, and a great multitude of friends.

A Urn Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 6, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Mrs. Finnigan’s service streamed live (see below) on the day of the service.
