Obituary of Lloyd Warren Hampton

Lloyd Hampton beloved friend of Ruth Brown, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at the age of 98 years.

 

Lloyd was born in Wardlow, AB on October 3, 1923 and married Elsie Butler in 1946.

 

They raised their family of six boys and one girl on a ranch just outside of Youngstown, AB. On the ranch, Lloyd enjoyed buying and raising cattle. He rode many a mile on his favourite horses, Whip and Rusty, especially during calving time.  Lloyd retired in 1979 and moved to Calgary in approximately 1986.

 

One of Lloyd’s favourite pastimes was his dancing. He and Ruth regularly attended polka festivals and their weekly dancing at the local senior’s centre. Lloyd was also known for his love of rodeos with his friends Harold and Wilf Girletz.

 

He will be most remembered for his sense of humour and love of life.

 

Besides his loving friend Ruth, Lloyd is survived by his daughter, Marilyn Jack of Airdrie, AB; five sons, Bruce (May Anne) of Youngstown, AB; Jack of Calgary, AB; Keith (Rita) of Calgary, AB; Kevin (Mel) of Lacombe, AB, and Robert (Sue) of Sherwood Park, AB; fourteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandsons; as well as Ruth’s daughter, Cathy (Brian) Stamler and son, Robert (Wendy) Brown; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Lloyd was predeceased by his wife, Elsie; his son, Donald “Dode”; parents, Bart and Nellie; and sisters, Catherine, Hazel and Edna.

 

As per Lloyd’s request, there will not be any memorial services. In place of this, there will be celebrations of life at later dates in Calgary and in Youngstown. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
