Obituary of Carol Diane Cripps

It is with great sadness that the family of Carol Cripps, beloved mother of Jason and Amy Cripps, of Calgary, AB, announces her passing on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at the age of 62 years.

Carol was born in Rocky Mountain House, AB, on March 18, 1959. She spent her youth in Red Deer, AB, before moving to pursue her career in Calgary, where she later married and started her family.

Carol enjoyed many hobbies over the years, from knitting to petit point, though her passion always returned to her garden. She enjoyed spending her summers in the yard, tending her beautiful flower beds. Her green thumb extended indoors as well, as she had a knack for raising healthy house plants. As an avid reader, Carol would stumble upon a new author, and promptly rush to the bookstore to purchase as many of the authors’ works as she could find.

She will be most remembered for her warmth and her smile. Carol made those around her feel welcome and was always quick to strike up a conversation with a stranger.

Carol is survived by her son Jason Cripps, and her daughter and son-in-law, Amy Cripps and Deryck Brown of Calgary, AB. She is also survived by her two brothers, Bill and Grant Champion; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Carol was predeceased by her parents, Adrienne and Jay Champion, whom she loved very much.

A small, private service will be held in Carol’s honour at her home on Saturday, February 19th, 2022 from 1:00pm – 4:00pm. A memorial tribute will be given at 1:30pm, followed by time for family and friends to reminisce and share fond memories of Carol. Please RSVP with the family to allow for planning around Covid guidelines. While the family respect everyone’s personal decisions, they request those who wish to attend to please be mindful of current Covid protocols, wear a mask, and avoid attending if unwell. Masks and hand sanitizer will be provided.
