Obituary of Hilda Milne

March 7, 1937 – Canwood, Saskatchewan

February 4, 2022 – Airdrie, Alberta

Hilda Milne passed away suddenly on Friday, February 4, 2022, in Airdrie, AB at the age of 84 years.

Hilda was born in Canwood, SK, to parents George Thomson Milne and Amy Beatrice Milne (nee Pamplin); she was one of eleven children. After finishing high school in Canwood, Hilda moved to Saskatoon. After a short time, she got a job as a seed analyst in an Agriculture Canada laboratory. She applied for and received a transfer into a then brand-new computer position with Agriculture Canada. This meant a move to the University of Saskatoon campus, where she worked until her retirement. In 2011, Hilda moved to Airdrie, AB to be closer to her family. Hilda was a faithful and devoted Christian and was an active member of the Pentecostal Church throughout her life. She loved travelling. Hilda and her lifelong friend Eloise visited Europe, England, Brazil, Africa, Australia, New Zealand and China, where she lived for three years in Hong Kong. For the last few years, their travels were often spent passing the winter season in Palm Springs, California.

Hilda was an engaged and generous person, much loved by her family and friends. She was, for all her life, ready to tend to others’ needs at her own expense with never a question asked. Her loss will be felt by many.

Hilda is survived by her sisters, Betty Leach (Murray) and Theresa Leach; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, cousins, and friends.
