Obituary of Andrew John Nowak
July 13, 1956 – Montreal, Quebec
February 5, 2022 – Airdrie, Alberta
Forever remembered. Andrew Nowak, passed away on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at the age of 65 years.
Andy was born in Montreal, Quebec on July 13, 1956. He left Montreal and headed to Coldstream BC where he started his own painting business for over twenty years. He loved his job and transforming people’s homes.
He moved to Airdrie to start a new life with Nancy and her children, Stephen and Breanne. He was VP of Operations for Stephen’s Backpacks Society (started by Nancy’s son when he was five) the past number of years where he accomplished so much in warehouse strategies, creating the A-Team and designing incredible gourmet cutting boards to assist the charity through Covid. He volunteered hundreds of hours to help children in need as well as mentoring his partner Nancy’s son in carpentry skills.
Andy had an amazing sense of humour and could light up any room with his infectious smile and blue eyes. He had amazing focus whatever the task at hand to just get it done.
He had a great love for animals especially dogs! His greatest memories included two beautiful Dobermans he owned in BC… Champ and Cleo. Andy loved being outdoors, cutting wood, fires at night, working in the shop, gardening, flying kites, cooking, and watching the latest movies. He was always looking and researching new projects to try.
He will be remembered in such a special way for the countless acts of service and kindness he demonstrated throughout his life.
Andy is survived by his devoted fiancé and partner Nancy; his stepson Stephen; and stepdaughter, Breanne and her fiancé, Andrew. Andy is also survived by his sister Laurie and his brother-in-law Don who reside in Montreal, Quebec. Her message to Andy:
“Our family chain is broken
And nothing seems the same,
But as God calls us one by one
The chain will link again.”
Your Loving sister, Laurie.
Andy is also survived by Nancy’s sister Dianna, her husband Ronnie; and their children Marco, Connie, and Chris; and their son Nick and his partner Irene. Andrew was predeceased by his dad Henryk Nowak in December 2021 and his mom Olga Nowak in February 2017.
