Obituary of Yvonne Lois Baker

February 8, 2022 - Calgary, Alberta

Yvonne passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at the age of 86 years. 

Yvonne was born April 9, 1935, to Robert and Gertrude Burns. She enjoyed being with family and friends; cooking, dancing, spending time with Ted at the Legion, and going to the horse races or playing a few games at the casino. While living in Moose Jaw, SK, Yvonne organized bus tours for many years to several casinos in Canada and in The United States, she enjoyed meeting and interacting with people on the tours. Yvonne was a wonderful caring mother and beloved friend to many. She was a caring soul and loved by all who met her. 

Do not stand at my grave and weep;

I am a thousand winds that blow;
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain;
I am the gentle autumn’s rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft star that shines at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there; I did not die.

Yvonne is survived by her four sons, Gary Dietz (Marilyn), Robert Dietz (Charo), Tim Dietz (Brenda), Brent Dietz; her stepdaughters and their family’s; several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends. Yvonne was predeceased by her husband, Ted Baker; father, Robert Burns who passed away in Dieppe in World War II; her mother, Gertrude Burns; father of her sons, Alex Dietz; brother, Clayton Burns; sister-in-law, Rosella Elllis; brothers-in-law, Frank Dietz, and Bill Streit; and her two grandchildren, Justin, and Tyler McDowell.
