Obituary of Marge Boychuk

October 4, 1935 - February 9, 2022

It is with great sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear mother, grandmother, and friend, Margaret Boychuk. We are comforted in believing that she is now reunited with our father Vic.

Margaret was born in Balcarres, SK on October 4, 1935 to parents Douglas and Ethel Sparkes. She was predeceased by both, and her brother Russell.

Mom’s character was forged early on in her childhood. She was raised by a single mother, due to the loss of her brave father during WWII. Her mother instilled in her strength, courage, and resilience.

After meeting Vic at Shell Oil in Regina, they were married in 1959. Together they created a life-long love story that endures to this day. Entertaining and hosting came naturally to mom and dad and there are many fond memories of gatherings at their home with their cherished family and friends. The simplest pleasures in life brought happiness to mom. She was a dedicated sports fan, following the Calgary Flames, Stampeders, Roughriders and golf.

Mom was the epitome of grace, beauty and kindness. Her optimistic outlook and unwavering positive attitude carried her through her countless health obstacles. There was a pure innocence to mom that drew all people to her. Mom’s glass of sauvignon blanc was always half full, and her genuine smile would always start the party.

Her greatest honour was raising her four children, Pam (Stu), Tracy (Paul), Brad, and Margo (Bill) and getting to share in the lives of her five beloved grandchildren, Matthew, Danielle (Tyler), Lindsey (Austin), Abigail, and Griffin. She was so excited to welcome her first great-grandchild in July 2022. Her special cousin Fern Hunter was more like the sister she never had. Our family life was a supportive, loving and fortunate one that included countless wonderful memories in Calgary, Regina, and especially in Palm Springs.

Rest softly mom, you will always be our warrior. “You’re the BEST!”

A celebration of mom will be held at a later date. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed here.
