McMURDO, Malcolm Everett George

February 9, 2022 – Calgary, Alberta

 

Malcolm Everett George McMurdo passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 9th, 2022, at the age of 81 years.

 

Malcolm was born in Tisdale, Saskatchewan and worked most of his life in farm equipment wholesale and finance. Mal loved the game of curling. Many years were spent on the ice, both as a player and a coach. He also loved fishing and hunting with that food filling the freezer and feeding his family in the early years. 

 

Mal was an avid hobbyist including woodworking, lapidary and stained glass, a member of the Calgary Rock and Lapidary Club he served as Club president from 1988 to 1991 and was named a life member in 1992.  In his later years Mal created many beautiful stained-glass lamps and panels, as well as teaching the art of stained glass.

 

Mal was always very supportive of his children's activities and interests, which then moved down to his grandchildren. He also took great joy in his three great grandsons. Mal and June loved traveling. They took their fifth wheel on many adventures throughout Canada and the US.

 

Malcolm is survived by his wife June, sister Marilyn (Darrell), sister-in-law Doreen, brother-in-law Wayne (Michelle); children, Wanda (Brian), Keith, Karl, Scott, Michael (Kerri-Anne) and Kevin (Cindy); grandchildren, Jeff (Laura), Andrew (Joanna), Kimberly, Bradley, Taylor, and Cameron; great-grandchildren, Isaac, Emmett, and Charlie; nieces, nephews and their families.

 

Malcolm was predeceased by his parents Ralph and Kathleen, first wife Ruth, brother Lyle and daughter Kathy.

 

A private celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed here.
