Obituary of Frederick (Fred) Rose

August 14, 1932 - February 12, 2022

It is with sad hearts that we announce that our dear father, grandfather, uncle, great uncle, brother-in-law and friend, Fred Rose, passed away in Edmonton at the age of 89 years.

Born in Edmonton, Fred lived for many years in Calgary and Cochrane. He will be remembered as a man who loved his family, spending time with friends, travelling, hiking in the mountains and farming in the foothills near Cremona. He could often be found in his garage amongst his tools working on a project: building a canoe, servicing a lawnmower or repairing almost anything.

Fred is survived by his children, Kevin, Leslie, and Jill (Dan); his grandsons, Zachary (Lisa), Tyler and Linden; his sisters-in-law, Ann Rose and Lynne Staples (Harley); as well as by many cherished family members and close friends. Fred was predeceased by his loving wife of 61 years, Betty; his son, Richard; his identical twin brother, Ken, and four other siblings.

A private family service is being held. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed here. The Rose family would like to thank all the staff at Touchmark in Edmonton, and in particular the Memory Care staff for their tender-loving care provided to Fred in his final years.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories or a charity of one’s choice.

In living memory of Fred Rose, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes, Cochrane, 369 Railway Street, Cochrane, AB T4C 2E2, Telephone: 403-932-4740.
