Obituary of Dorothy Ardelle Semple

Dorothy Semple, beloved wife of George Bruce Semple, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Sunday, February 13, 2022, at the age of 89 years.
Dorothy was born in Vulcan, AB, on May 30, 1932. She graduated from secretarial school after moving to Calgary with her family. She worked for many years at Woodward’s department store while raising their children. Bruce was a carpenter and was working on a new school across the street from Dorothy’s home. When walking to school with her sisters Jane and Shirley, Bruce would whistle at them. Eventually he went to church with Dorothy’s family, and we all know what happened next. Bruce was asked by Dorothy’s parents, Howard and Maisie Smith, to build a new kitchen for the home and they were married shortly after.
Dorothy is survived by her four children, Wendy (Brian), Wesley, George, and Glenn. Wendy and Brian have three children, Bruce, Brent, and Leslie (Jason), with great granddaughter Maisie. George has one daughter Karli (James), with three great grandsons, Oliver, Grayson, and Corbin.

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Eastside, 5388 Memorial Drive NE, Calgary, AB) on Monday, May 30, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. Internment Service to follow at Mountain View Cemetery (1605 100 St SE, Calgary, AB). Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed here.
