On Sunday, February 13, 2022, Saliyha’s Todo took her hand and led her through the gates of heaven, as her family sang and prayed their goodbyes.
Saliyha (Minta) Mornin’ Star Ear was born and raised in the Bow Valley. She lived in Mînî thnî and Calgary, and went to school in Exshaw and at Canmore Collegiate High School. Saliyha was a very cheerful and happy child who had a shy smile and optimistic attitude. She was baptized and grew up in the Ozada Flats Church, where she liked to sing. Saliyha became an adventurous young woman and rarely turned down an opportunity to try something new, whether it was a thrill ride at the Calgary Stampede, a new food from a different culture, an epic hike into the back country of Banff, or sewing lessons to make her own light up ribbon skirt. Her adventurous spirit took her to many places, she joined the Cadets and traveled with her troop on a road trip to Disneyland. She loved sports, she played basketball and was a member of her school volleyball team. Saliyha was passionate about music and dance, her moves captivated followers on social media, and she was able to show her silly and fun-loving side through the videos she liked to make. Saliyha had many friends to whom she was fiercely loyal. She was protective of her loved ones, and always willing to stand up for her values, even when it was not easy to do. She enjoyed cooking and made the world’s best monster chocolate chip cookies. Saliyha shared herself with the world through her art, her creativity, her writing, and her videos, and her family is so glad to have these things to remember her beautiful spirit by.
