It was such a pleasure to have known Bruce while he was banding birds at the Cominco property at Heritage and Deerfoot. He was always so interesting to talk to and learn from.
It was always a pleasure to meet both you and Bruce while we lived in the SE. I will miss the thoughts of Bruce working with the birds and him sharing with me so much of what he knew and learned.
Take care of yourself.

Sheila, words cannot convey how deeply sorry we are for your loss. You are, and Bruce has been, a part of our family for many years. You have shared our celebrations and stood with us in the sad times. I spoke with Evelyn, and she says:
"I remember all the drives Bruce took me on over the years on weekday afternoons after Bill passed away. He drove me through the Kananaskis and north of Highway 16 as well, to country I was not at all familiar with. Bruce knew every bit of that territory and its history. He knew its plants, its animals and its birds. It was a great learning experience for me.
Bruce could talk to anyone and showed such a great interest in everyone he met. He learned their stories and all about their families. He would say, "We got to chatting," and tell us about the conversations he had on his travels. Bruce always thought kindly of all the people he met.
I will always remember Bruce's deep love for the natural world, and especially his profound understanding and knowledge of birds .He has been a steadfast friend. We will miss his presence in our lives more than we can say, and hold him in our hearts.
Dear Sheila and family - we are sending you our deepest sympathies. Bruce was a remarkable man with great dedication and commitment to his life-long work in bird biology. His love of birds touched many. We are so glad to have known him.

Sheila and family. I was saddened to hear of the passing of your spouse and father. I had many wonderful conversations with Bruce at social gatherings over the years. He enjoyed imparting his vast knowledge of this province and all the birds that call it home or pass through. Rest In Peace Bruce.
